Navigating with Ease

Hatch’s smart sleep products help people build better bedtime routines, but within the app, navigation felt unclear. Standard page swipes didn’t effectively communicate movement between screens, making it difficult for users to understand their place in the experience. The lack of visual hierarchy led to confusion and a less intuitive journey. I saw an opportunity to use motion as a functional tool—creating transitions that reinforced structure, improved clarity, and made the app feel more seamless and guided.

To solve this, I audited the app’s existing motion, identifying where transitions felt disconnected or failed to provide clear feedback. Many relied on default page swipes, which didn’t support the app’s structure or help users understand where they were.

I introduced purposeful motion to improve navigation, using subtle animations to guide users through different states. Each transition was designed to reinforce hierarchy, reduce friction, and create a more natural, structured experience—making interactions feel effortless while staying true to Hatch’s calming, sleep-focused design.
