Time, Visualized

As part of the Facebook for Business redesign, my team was tasked with creating a timeline module that could be used across multiple teams and pages. The challenge? Most content was text-heavy and lacked visual interest, making it difficult to engage users. As a visual designer, I collaborated with UX, content, and engineering teams to create a flexible, scalable design that balanced text with media while maintaining a cohesive user experience.

To make the timeline more engaging, I designed a modular system that emphasized media when available and used color stripes to add structure to text-heavy content. A category filtering system with distinct colors helped users navigate topics more easily.

Users could toggle between a holistic view for an overview and a detailed view for a more immersive experience. Given the complexity of the desktop design, I opted for an adaptive mobile approach, ensuring a seamless experience across devices.
